Gien was founded in 1821 by Thomas Hall, an Englishman who introduced fine English earthenware manufacturing techniques to France. Gien faience is made in the town of Gien in north-central France, on the Loire. Gien dinnerware is microwave and dishwasher safe. Gien is available through Hanley-Wood in San Antonio and Corpus Christi, Texas.
