The Belgian illustrator Isabelle Barthel designed the summery “Poesie” dinnerware for Gien. Many successful collections have already been created in collaboration with the artist. For her designs, the illustrator often draws inspiration from nature. “Poesie” is nature’s promise of constant renewal. Each flower depicted, each stem and each leaf, is different, denoting the bountiful wealth of nature, echoing the detail and care that goes into the work of the Gien manufactory. For teatime, coffee time or lunch, this floral pattern will suit the occasion. Its print in vivid orange, pink and blue seems to radiate good humor.

Gien has been producing faience for almost 200 years. Faience – a fine, porous earthenware that is glazed – can be dated back to Ancient Egypt. It is a technique that was has been used and then perfected in a unique way by the Fayencerie de Gien (Gien Faience Factory) since 1821.
